POSITION PURPOSE
The Department of Urology has an outstanding opportunity for a 100% FTE Analyst trained in biostatistics to work jointly with Urology and the Department of Emergency Medicine (EM).

Under the general supervision of the Lead Biostatistician in the Department of Urology, this individual will work independently and spend the majority of work time designing, developing, coordinating, and performing statistical aspects of study design, implementation, and analyses for investigators.

While primary management is under the Department of Urology, this position will also support the Department of Emergency Medicine as our investigators are engaged in cross departmental mentorship, grant, and clinical collaborations. This position manages projects spanning both departments and multiple investigative teams.

This position will manage multiple projects concurrently under deadline pressures and changing priorities; apply critical thinking and sound judgment in managing complex work; and take a solutions-oriented approach to challenges. Collaboration is essential, and a successful candidate will possess the emotional intelligence to build and foster constructive working relationships through open communication, accountability, empathy, and respect.

In accordance with UW’s relevant telework policies and processes, this position can be performed with as much as a 100% remote work option or, if preferred, as a hybrid or occasional telework work option with onsite office space available. Availability for at least 20% onsite activities to interact with investigators and research staff at UW Montlake is desirable.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Statistical Analysis: 100%
  • Perform statistical analyses using packaged statistical program (statistical analyses may include, but are not limited to, descriptive analysis, linear, logistic, Poisson, and multinomial regression modeling, and survival analysis with competing risks).
  • Develop, coordinate, and evaluate quality assurance procedures for on-going data collection and analysis.
  • Provide analytic consultation for a wide range of research project(s).
  • Coordinate production of statistical reports.

    Data cleaning, restructuring, and management
  • Take primary responsibility for the statistical aspects of protocol development and implementation and/or scientific committee work.
  • Prepare written summaries and tables of results, and assist faculty investigators in writing scientific reports, papers and grant applications.
  • Assist investigators in appropriate choice of statistical method.
  • Participate in plans for data collection, data management, and analytic systems design.
  • Represent departments/ projects at scientific meetings.
  • Assist and mentor junior faculty and trainees in performing basic study analyses.
  • Perform related duties as required.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Master's Degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Statistics or related field
  • Minimum one year of experience.

    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Statistical Analysis and Data Management.
  • Experience with either SAS or R.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with survival analysis methods and various regression models.
  • Knowledge of or interest in Urology and/or Emergency Medicine.
  • Experience with REDCap.
  • Experience working with junior faculty and trainees.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
  • A satisfactory outcome from a criminal background check is required.
