The Behavioral Science Department invites applications for a full-time faculty role in Psychology. General responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate level, recruitment, interaction and advising students, alumni engagement, partner relationships, development, and other projects. Compensation is commensurate with qualifications, including education and experience.
Essential Responsibilities- Teach courses as scheduled.
- Engage in student recruitment, retention, and program development.
- Serve in faculty committees and other roles as assigned.
- Advise, disciple, and mentor students.
- Perform tasks related to assessment of student learning.
- Have the demonstrated ability to integrate Christian faith with Psychology.
- Be a spiritual model through a Christian lifestyle.
The work environment consists of exposure to physical conditions typical of a normal office environment. Most of the job is performed while sitting, although the work may require standing or walking and/or the lifting and carrying of small objects.
Spiritual RequirementsAll employees must be openly committed followers of Christ and sign the UVF Community Covenant.
Qualifications and Abilities- Educational background in the field of Psychology
- Master’s degree required; doctoral degree preferred.
- Higher education teaching experience preferred but not required.
- Strong commitment to Christian faith and practice required.
Demonstrate teaching competence in psychology courses such as Introduction to Psychology, Lifespan Human Development, Crisis Counseling, and other general psychology courses.
The DepartmentThe Behavioral Science Department serves approximately 80 students, offering bachelor’s degrees in criminal justice, Pastoral Counseling, Psychology, and Social Work.
