Position Description

Primary Purpose And Essential Functions

The School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of the Pacific invites applications for a Visiting Faculty position (rank open: Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) to teach a course in Interactive Computer Graphics. This is a part-time appointment for one semester. The successful candidate will join a student-centered, collaborative department and play a key role in delivering an advanced, programming-intensive computer graphics course.

Responsibilities Include The Following

  • Teach and develop the Interactive Computer Graphics course, including lectures, labs, and programming assignments.
  • Create and update course materials (syllabi, projects, assessments) and integrate current industry tools and best practices.
  • Provide mentorship and feedback to students through office hours and project guidance.
  • Collaborate with faculty on curriculum planning and any ABET-related assessment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in computer graphics, interactive visualization, or related areas.
  • Proficiency with graphics programming (e.g., WebGPU, WebGL, OpenGL, DirectX, Vulkan) and shader programming.
  • Evidence of effective university-level teaching or equivalent professional training experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science related field.
  • Prior university-level teaching experience.
  • A strong record of teaching and mentoring in computer graphics or interactive media.
  • Experience supervising research or capstone projects.
  • Ability to integrate emerging graphics technologies and trends into coursework
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel

Work is performed during standard hours, but additional hours may be required to meet academic needs or deadlines.

Hiring Range $9,000-$12,000 ($3,000 per unit) (We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.) Special Instructions
