Position Summary
The Title IX and HR Investigator is responsible for conducting prompt, thorough, and objective investigations. Specifically, this position manages the day-to-day responsibilities associated with the University’s non-discrimination investigations, particularly related to the University’s Sexual Misconduct Policy, Rules and Conduct; Harassment-Free Work and Learning Environment; Complaint Resolution; and anti-discrimination policies involving students, employees, and members of the public. The Title IX and HR Investigator reports to the Director of Title IX.

Investigation and Reporting
Description of Job Duties
- Receives and conducts investigations of complaints made against students, faculty, and staff with respect to violations of the sexual misconduct, non-discrimination, and/or the sexual harassment policies.
- Evaluates complaints, develops investigation plans, conducts interviews, identifies and collects relevant information, analyzes evidence and data, applies policy, and prepares a detailed written investigative findings report based on a preponderance of the evidence.
- Assures compliance with timelines, acts as an impartial party, maintains a high level of confidentiality and discretion, and ensures a prompt, fair and neutral process for all parties.
- Provides interim and protective measures, guidance, and assistance to complainants and respondents.
- Updates the electronic complaint database throughout the investigation process to ensure appropriate and timely recordkeeping.
- Works closely with the Title IX Director, Human Resources, and Campus Life to take the appropriate corrective action if necessary.

- Collaborates with the Title IX Director with developing and implementing ongoing training, on issues related to Title VII, Title IX, VAWA, and other laws, regulations, policies, and procedures for students, faculty, and staff.
- Assists with disseminating educational materials that inform members of the campus community about the responsibilities of the Title IX, as well as anti-harassment and non-discrimination laws.
- Assists the Title IX Director in performing outreach and educational events for students, faculty, staff, and members of the community.

- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
Required Work Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in human resources, legal, student conduct, student life, or similar field.
- One (1) year of experience conducting sensitive and confidential investigations of alleged harassment, discrimination, sexual misconduct, and/or sexual violence or equivalent legal experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree or Juris Doctorate.
- Higher education experience investigating harassment, discrimination, sexual misconduct, and sexual violence complaints.
- Knowledge of current state and federal laws and regulations, best practices, and trends in the field of education related to discrimination, harassment, and retaliation that violate Title VII, Title IX, VAWA, and the ADA.
- Experience conducting training/professional development related to anti-harassment and non-discrimination, Title IX and VAWA in various formats (online, in-person, web-ex).
- Experience working with individuals from traditionally underrepresented groups representing a wide range of diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to understand and converse in the Spanish language.

Mon through Fri 8am to 5pm, with flexibility based on events, trainings, outreach, etc.. which may include some evening and weekend hours.

Title IX
This position is considered a “Responsible Employee” under Title IX federal regulations and “Mandatory Reporter” under Texas state law and the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy. As a Mandatory Reporter, this position requires you as the employee to promptly report any incident that you witness or receive information about Title IX violations. These reporting responsibilities are set out in the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy.
