JOB SUMMARY
UT Southwestern is actively seeking an experienced Senior Elevator Maintenance Mechanic to join our Elevator Shop team. We are looking for someone with the following skills:
- Extensive Knowledge of Elevator Systems: Deep understanding of elevator systems, including mechanical, electrical, and electronic components.
- Advanced Diagnostic Skills: Ability to use advanced tools and techniques to diagnose and troubleshoot complex elevator issues.
- Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
- Leadership and Mentoring Skills: Ability to lead and mentor junior technicians, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex problems related to elevator systems.
- Compliance and Safety Knowledge: Thorough understanding of safety codes, regulations, and building codes related to elevators and escalators.
- Physical Stamina and Dexterity: Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
- QEI License preferred
As a Senior Elevator Maintenance Mechanic, you will work under broad administrative direction to provide advanced technical skills for inspection, maintenance, and repair of elevators in on-campus and off-campus university buildings.
Work Location: Dallas Campus; assist other UTSW locations as needed.
Shift Requirement: must be available for shifts ranging from 6:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday. With some after-hours work.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

6 years experience in maintenance, inspection, and repair of elevators.
- Licenses and Certifications

Certified Elevator Tech (CET) Certificate or International Union Elevator Certification (IUEC) Mechanic Card or Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI)
JOB DUTIES
- Conducts periodic elevator inspections to ensure safe and efficient operations as scheduled by preventive maintenance computer printout.
- Cleans, lubricates and adjusts relays, controls door operators and elevator pits as needed.
- Inspects hoist and governor cables for wear. Maintains control rooms, equipment, car frames and safety devices in good working condition.
- Responds to trouble calls and makes all necessary repairs.
- Orders tools, parts, and equipment required for maintenance and repair of elevators. Prepares list of spare parts needed to be kept in inventory.
- Reviews and recommends plans and specifications for new elevators.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
