What are the responsibilities and job description for the Groundskeeper-Associate (Entry Level) position at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio?
Under direct supervision, responsible for providing routine semi-skilled landscaping and care in the maintenance of the grounds. Upkeeps and cultures lawn, plants, hedges, trees, and general maintenance of grounds.
- Basic knowledge of landscaping methods and techniques.
- Familiarity in operation of equipment.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot simple mechanical failures.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Time management skills.
- Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED is required.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION:
Valid TX Driver's License is required - must have a clear driving record.
This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.
- Mows, trims, and edges turf grass areas.
- Prunes trees and trim shrubs.
- Grades, seeds and lays sod.
- Grades, lays out, replaces, tends and maintains flowerbeds or other decorative landscaping.
- Installs, maintains and performs minor repairs of irrigation systems.
- Maintains walkways, driveways and parking lots to include removing ice and snow.
- Maintains grounds clean and reports broken or leaking hydrants, faulty sprinkler system equipment and any unsightly plant or material conditions on the grounds.
- Performs routine cleaning and maintenance on gardening and grounds equipment.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Applies basic and develops advanced skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment appropriate to area of specialization.
- Performs more advanced functions as part of training and development.
- Resolves routine questions and problems, and refers complex issues to higher levels.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
