Responsible for Access Services Desk functions to include, but not limited to, charging and discharging materials, processing Texshare and Alumni cards, collecting and posting fines, providing general patron assistance. In conjunction with the Nights/Weekends Coordinator, supervises student assistants assigned to the desk. Responsible for processing Holds and Courtesy Holds in Alma. Directs and manages In-Process Requests, works weekends, evenings and nights as support staff, requires a flexible schedule. Responsible for opening and or closing the building according to the needs of the Library. Supervises the maintenance of the Children’s, Browsing and Western Collections. Responsible for processing all items at the book drop as needed. Performs Cash box reconciliation as part of the closing procedures for Access Services. Functions as the back-up for the Nights/Weekend Supervisor as needed.
Essential Functions
Responsible for operating the Access Services desk, including assisting patrons, charging and discharging materials, collecting fines, staffing the reserve desk, and monitoring security stations.
Working in conjunction with the Section Head and the Night/Weeknds coordinator to supervise desk students; including hiring, scheduling, training, evaluating, terminating, and processing electronic time sheets.
Process holds and courtesy holds in a timely manner. Assists patrons with questions and issues and responds in person, by phone, or email. Directs and manages In-Process requests.
Processes Texshare and Alumni cards and is the back-up of the Night/Weekend Coordinator as needed. Staff member will be efficient at the preparation of Texshare and Alumni cards, statistics, and understanding of the prerequisites related to the program.
Performs stack maintenance for the organization of the Children’s Browsing and Western Collections.
Assist with Library Separations or Clearances.
Perform cash box reconciliation as part of the closing procedures for the Access Services Department.
Works weekends, evenings and nights, skeleton days as needed and supports staff with flexibility of schedule
Assists with opening/closing the building according to the needs of the Library.
Operates the library alarm, and security.
Serves on committees as needed.
Supervise and forward police reports to direct supervisor. Ensures that all information obtained is accurate and relevant to the situation.
Assist with Carrel Sweeps.
Periodic evening and weekend work as required.
Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems.
Complies with all State and University policies.
Other duties may be assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
and
Experience: One-year related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Computer knowledge within area of assigned responsibility required
Maximum 2 years full-time library experience or in a customer relations setting.
Minimum 2 years supervisory experience of four or more individuals.
Minimum 1 year of inventory management or related experience.
Library experience with shelving and stack maintenance.
Library experience, especially in a circulation department.
Training and evaluating of student assistants.
Experience with automated library systems or PC-based work.
Problem solving abilities.
Bilingual ability, Spanish-English, desirable
