The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for a Lecturer Position for our CACREP accredited Counseling Programs beginning in Spring/Summer 2026 that is housed in the Department of Counseling and Special Education in the College of Education. The successful candidates will be committed to excellence in teaching, service, and community engagement as well as collaboration across the university. Teaching assignments will be based on candidates' experience and expertise. The successful candidates will assume a range of responsibilities including the following: (1) oversee student site placements for practicum/internship, (2) active engagement with practicum/internship sites, (3) supervising students' field experiences (4) teaching graduate level courses, including in-person, hybrid, and online courses; (5) participating in college, and departmental committee work, as well as professional and community service; and (6) active collaboration with colleagues. Teaching in summer is generally available.
Job Requirements:
- An earned master's degree in Counseling from a CACREP approved or doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP approved program
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness in graduate level courses.
- Relevant experience in the field of Mental Health Counseling
- Evidence of the ability to work collaboratively with other faculty, professionals, and community organizations.
- Commitment to maintenance of CACREP standards.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bilingual
- Experience as a mental health or rehabilitation counselor
- Licensed as a Professional Counselor (board approved supervisor) in Texas
- Ability and flexibility to teach both foundational and advanced Counseling courses
