General Notes

The Preston Lab in the Department of Neuroscience is recruiting a full-time Lab Coordinator with a start date in Summer 2026. The lab uses behavioral and brain imaging techniques to explore how children, adolescents, and adults form new memories, remember past events, and how their memory for the past influences what they learn in the present. We are particularly interested in how the ability to acquire new knowledge impacts other cognitive behaviors such as reasoning, decision making, imagination, and future planning.

Initial assignment will be for one year. Subsequent renewal of employment will be based upon performance review, progress towards research goals, and continuation of funding. Selected candidate will play a major role in experiment development and implementation and receive training in advanced neuroimaging methods. The primary responsibilities will be the management of behavioral and neuroimaging studies of memory in participants aged 4-35 years. Candidates must have evening and weekend availability for fMRI data collection.

Purpose

Provide research support to the lab of Dr. Alison Preston for the Department of Neuroscience.

Responsibilities
  • Recruitment and scheduling of child, adolescent, and adult participants.

  • Behavioral and brain imaging data collection.

  • Processing, organizing, and disseminating research data.

  • Training of undergraduate students.

  • General administration, including finances, IRB protocols and grant reporting.

Required Qualifications
  • BA/BS in Psychology, Neuroscience, Computer Science or a related field.

  • Previous research experience, preferably with behavioral and/or neuroscientific techniques (MRI, EEG, etc.).

  • Strong project management skills to coordinate a research team and oversee longitudinal data collection.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively recruit, engage, and retain families through our participant pool.

  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating closely with graduate students and postdoctoral researchers.

Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 1-yearexperience working in a research lab with children and/or adolescents.

  • Familiarity with software packages used for experimental administration and data management (e.g., MATLAB, Python) or the ability/willingness to learn how to use these platforms in experimental settings.

Salary Range

$35,000 depending on qualifications

Working Conditions
  • Candidates must have evening and weekend availability for fMRI data collection.

  • May work around standard office conditions.

  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
