Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Tech specializing in Orthopedic Trauma to join our healthcare team. This role provides vital support in patient care within a dynamic hospital environment, focusing on orthopedic trauma cases. The Nurse Tech will assist nursing staff with clinical tasks, monitor patient conditions, and ensure a safe and comfortable recovery process for patients. Ideal candidates will have experience working in acute care settings and possess strong knowledge of medical procedures, documentation, and patient safety protocols.
Duties
- Assist registered nurses and physicians with patient care activities, including vital signs, medication administration, and documentation using EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks
- Monitor patient conditions closely, noting changes in vital signs or symptoms and reporting to nursing staff promptly
- Support patients with mobility needs, including the use of Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices
- Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures such as catheter care and wound management
- Help coordinate patient activities and ensure compliance with care plans, including memory care and dementia-specific protocols when applicable
- Prepare treatment areas and assist with medical procedures in sterile environments
- Document all patient interactions accurately in medical records while maintaining HIPAA compliance
- Assist with discharge planning and patient education related to post-acute care or outpatient services
Experience
Candidates should have prior experience working in fast-paced healthcare environments such as hospitals, ICU, emergency medicine, or trauma centers. Experience with Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly desirable. Additional preferred backgrounds include:
- Critical care experience, including ICU or medical-surgical units
- Experience with pediatrics (PICU), geriatrics, or behavioral health settings
- Familiarity with infectious disease care, hospice, or home & community care environments
- Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for medical documentation and patient service records
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and aseptic techniques necessary for safe patient care
- Experience working with diverse populations including patients with disabilities, developmental disabilities, Alzheimer’s disease, memory care needs, or post-acute recovery
