Position Summary:
Assists with equipment and scope maintenance
a. Demonstrates competence in cleaning and disinfection of endoscopes and accessories.
b. Follows scope repair procedures.
c. Inspects endoscopes for damage and reports any malfunctioning to the Nurse Manager.
d. Orients other staff members to proper method for high level disinfection of scopes.
e. Documents orientation and competence level on appropriate form.
Complies with established departmental policies and procedures; CQI/QA programs; safety, environmental, infection control programs.
a. Complies with mandatory educational programs requirements annually as demonstrated through documentation in the unit Education Record Manual.
b. Attends staff meetings at least 90% of the time scheduled and required.
c. Employs Standard Precautions during any and all patient contact.
d. Consistently performs hand-washing before and after patient contact.
e. Complies with guidelines and policies for disposal of infectious waste.
f. Uses isolation cart and supplies appropriately and as ordered.
g. Maintains standards related to quality patient care as evidenced by minimal patient complaints.
h. Attends position-related and mandatory in-services and continuing education programs.
i. Adheres to attendance policy as evidenced by the lack of written warnings.
j. Observes personal hygiene and dress as defined by policy.
k. Knowledgeable about professional and practice issues related to endoscopy.
l. Participates in organizational activities.
m. Responsible for personal continuing education.
