JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Research Technician 2 assists with and conducts behavioral and surgical experiments, performs biochemical assays, and supports data analysis related to rodent models of stress and alcohol use disorder (AUD). This position oversees the organization and maintenance of newly established laboratory equipment for the Principal Investigator.
Conducts behavioral and surgical experiments related to laboratory projects using rodent models of stress and alcohol use disorder (AUD).
Performs biochemical assays on brain tissue and blood plasma samples, including tissue and blood collection.
Organizes and documents sample storage.
Coordinates the transfer of samples with collaborators.
Orders supplies and maintains inventory.
Assists with data presentation.
Attends conference as available.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in a science. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: OR a combination of college coursework and work experience to equal four (4) years.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Strong work ethic, professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to learn and use Microsoft Excel to generate, organize, and manage experimental data.
- Basic experience or coursework involving mouse or rat models, or willingness to learn animal research techniques.
- Basic familiarity with biochemical techniques (e.g., through coursework or laboratory training) or on-the-job training provided.
