The Department Of Economics In The Dana And David Dornsife College Of Letters, Arts And Sciences At The University Of Southern California Seeks Qualified Applicants For Part-time, One-semester, In-person Lecturer Positions To Join Our Faculty At The Washington, DC, Capital Campus In Spring 2027 For The Following Courses

Intermediate Macroeconomics (ECON 305): The determinants of aggregate income, employment, and inflation; economic fluctuations; fiscal and monetary policy; financial markets; the national debt.

Money, Credit and Banking (ECON 357): The money, bond, stock, and other financial markets; portfolio choice; determinants of asset prices and interest rates; inflation; and interactions between financial markets and government policies.

One section of each course will be offered, and applicants may indicate their availability to teach either or both courses. Instructors will develop syllabi and assignments in accordance with program guidelines. The class meets two days per week in two 1-hour and 20- minutes blocks at the Capital Campus, 1771 N St NW, Washington, DC. In addition, instructors are expected to hold a two hours of office hours per week to answer students’ questions on an individual basis. The successful candidate will work closely with USC Dornsife faculty in planning and delivering the course.

Initial appointments are fixed-term, with the possibility of renewal contingent on performance and review by the program faculty, its directors, and the college deans.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a PhD in Economics by August 2026. We require demonstrated excellence in teaching Economics at the college level.

The referees will be contacted directly by USC to provide letters of reference after submission of application.

We expect to conduct interviews with selected candidates later this year, additional information will be provided at that time.

The per-course rate for this position is $14,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
