Assistant/Associate or Professor of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine

University of Southern California
Los Angeles, CA Full Time
POSTED ON 8/1/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 10/1/2026

The University of Southern California (USC), founded in 1880, is the largest private employer in the City of Los Angeles. As an employee of USC, you will be a part of a world-class research university and a member of the "Trojan Family," which is comprised of the faculty, students and staff that make the university what it is.

The Department of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine (stemcell.keck.usc.edu) at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California invites applications for two new faculty positions at all ranks (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) in cardiovascular regenerative biology.

We seek outstanding candidates whose work will advance the next generation of therapies for heart failure and cardiac injury, broadly defined. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, heart regeneration, revascularization, fibrosis and remodeling, cardiac immunobiology, gene and RNA therapeutics, disease modeling and pathogenesis, and drug discovery. We are particularly interested in investigators whose approaches complement and extend ongoing efforts in cardiomyocyte-based therapies, including those focused on tissue microenvironment, immune interactions, vascularization, and mechanisms of durable functional integration.

Successful candidates will pursue innovative, collaborative, and translational research programs that bridge mechanistic and data-driven approaches across molecular, cellular, tissue, and systems-level biology.

Faculty will be core members of the newly established USC REPAIR Institute, a multidisciplinary, AI-enabled therapeutics development initiative spanning the Schools of Medicine, Engineering, and Pharmacy. REPAIR integrates strengths in pluripotent stem cell biology, nanoparticle-based delivery, RNA therapeutics, microphysiological systems, computational modeling and AI, pharmacokinetics & pharmacodynamics, small and large animal physiology, and experimental pathology, with the goal of accelerating the development of regenerative and biologically based therapies.

The successful candidate is expected to establish and maintain a vigorous, externally funded research program and to contribute to the Department's teaching, service, and outreach missions.

USC provides an exceptionally collaborative environment, with additional opportunities for interaction with the Eli and Edythe Broad Center for Regenerative Medicine, the USC Center for Advanced Computing (CARC), the Zilkha Neurogenetic Institute, the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, clinical departments across the Keck School of Medicine, and the Department of Quantitative and Computational Biology in the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences.

The annual base salary range for this position is $160,000-$425,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market as external market and organizational considerations.

Applications should include a letter of interest; a curriculum vitae; a two- to three-page statement of past, present, and future research; and contact information for four references.
