Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
This position will play a critical role in the Institute’s tick-borne disease research program, particularly by serving as the Institute’s first grant-funded study focusing specifically on human infections. This position’s primary responsibilities will involve overseeing and coordinating a new hospital-surveillance study. Their direct responsibilities will evolve, with earlier years focusing on project start-up, middle years focusing on project execution, and later years focusing on study closure activities. General responsibilities will include daily operational oversight, managing active participant recruitment and associated data, while working with faculty leadership to publish study findings, present preliminary and final results at scientific conferences, and design prospective grant applications/studies. This position will directly support the University’s mission of research excellence by supervising high-quality data collection for an NIH-funded clinical translation institution-level grant and laying the foundation for prospective, collaborative clinical studies.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 1 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

- Bachelor’s degree in biology or related fields with 2 years of professional work experience in clinical or population health epidemiology studies.
- Strong working knowledge of vector-borne diseases;
- Solid background working on participant recruitment, clinical epidemiology methods, and public health surveillance procedures;
- Working knowledge of field sampling design and executing these designs in real-world settings;
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
