The Director of IT Events Planning and Branding at the University of South Carolina leads the strategic planning and execution of high-impact technology events and shapes a cohesive, engaging brand identity for the Division of Information Technology. This role oversees the full lifecycle of events, ensuring alignment with university priorities and exceptional execution. In parallel, the position drives creative branding and communications efforts, developing visual and digital content to promote IT initiatives and strengthen engagement across the university community. By connecting people, technology, and storytelling, this role enhances visibility, fosters collaboration, and supports the university’s mission of innovation in teaching and learning.
Role Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and execution of major Division of IT events, including technology showcases, AI initiatives, and campus-wide engagement programs.
- Develop and maintain a cohesive brand identity through compelling visual design, video content, and consistent messaging aligned with university standards.
- Coordinate event logistics, budgets, vendors, and cross-campus partnerships to ensure seamless delivery and alignment with strategic objectives. Drive customer engagement by promoting IT services and initiatives through digital communications, storytelling, and collaborative outreach efforts.

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job-related field and 3 or more years of job-related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job-related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

- Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, or another related field. Experience with information technology terminology and experience in a higher education institution
- Experience planning, coordinating, and executing large-scale events or outreach initiatives within a university or comparable institutional environment.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing branding or marketing strategies that align with organizational identity and enhance visibility.
- Proficiency in design and communication platforms such as Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Canva, or similar tools for creating promotional and visual materials.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, including experience managing multiple events or campaigns simultaneously with attention to detail and deadlines.
- Proven ability to create engaging content for newsletters, websites, and social media platforms that increases audience participation and awareness of events
- Familiarity with event management tools (e.g., Cvent, Eventbrite), CRM or email marketing systems, and web content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal).
- Demonstrated success working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, and external vendors.
- Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP), or related event management/marketing certification.
