Position Summary:
The Coordinator for Residential Student Conduct manages and adjudicates student conduct cases while overseeing case management processes for University Housing conduct administrators. This role provides initial and ongoing training, consultation, and coordination of emergency responses for more than 20 housing conduct administrators, while also designing training curriculum for Resident Mentors and monitoring behavioral trends within residential communities. Operating with general supervision, the coordinator exercises independent judgment and decision-making authority in the student conduct process, with recommendations that are routinely implemented. The position reports to the Director of Student Conduct and works closely with the Director of Residence Life.
Primary Job Duties
  • Adjudicate reports of alleged student misconduct and academic dishonesty. Serves as primary contact for the adjudication of cases from University Housing
  • Assign University Housing cases and complete reporter follow-up as needed.
  • Provide training for University Housing professional and paraprofessional staff regarding the student conduct process in collaboration with University Housing and Student Conduct staff members.
  • Analyze and track trends of misconduct in residence halls and respond to identified problem areas by coordinating resources (Student Conduct, Law Enforcement and Safety, etc.) for programming and outreach to meet specific community needs.

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel, or a related field.
  • Experience working with restorative justice programs and training experience is also preferred.
  • Pending graduates will be considered if they will be able to obtain their degree by the date of employment.

Case adjudication and coordination:

Adjudicate reports of alleged student misconduct and academic dishonesty.
Serve as primary contact for the adjudication of cases from University Housing.
Determine appropriate response and resolution to conduct matters and help to coordinate time sensitive actions.
Act as a resource for University Housing conduct administrators in the resolution and sanctioning of cases.
Assist University Housing conduct administrators in panel hearings with the Carolina Judicial Council.
Lead restorative justice program by training staff on restorative justice practices, facilitating restorative justice meetings and providing support to students and staff on conflict resolution strategies.
Design, administer, and evaluate assessment tools based on educational outcomes.
Create yearly communications for University Housing discussing trends and timely topics.

Case Management:

Assign University Housing cases and complete reporter follow-up as needed.
Manage Gamecock Gateway (bridge program) and Palmetto Pathway student’s conduct
cases and collaborate with the Director of Gamecock Gateway to ensure timely completion of sanctions. Attend orientations and trainings as needed and provide assessment and case completion data.
Review housing conduct administrators’ case resolutions to provide support and follow-up when inconsistencies and problems arise.
Assist with the case management and tracking of unheard cases and overdue sanctions for housing conduct administrators.
Lead laterally by cultivating relationships with housing staff members; build trust and respect; share vision and purpose; link actions with outcomes; and communicate consequences.
Represent Student Conduct at appropriate University Housing meetings (residence life staff meetings, assistant director meetings).

Assist with the coordination and investigation of Critical Incident Investigation Team cases and the adjudication of organizational cases

Present to students on topics such as integrity, conduct, and the Carolinian Creed that fall under the umbrella of OSCAI.
