Responsibilities

  • Coordinates workflow organizes staffing, under the supervision of the Radiologic Technologist Supervisor
  • Performs a variety of related digital image management tasks as necessary, ie, exceptions and annotation annotations
  • Maintains competency by demonstrating a complete working knowledge of all imaging equipment and proper positioning for routine and procedural exams
  • Adjusts immobilization devices and equipment, with physician guidance when needed, to obtain diagnostic images
  • Appropriately labels patient position to reflect correct orientation of images, with use of marker in Radiology or comet labeling in advanced modality
  • Adjusts technical factors in proportion to patient and body part being examined while minimizing radiation (Radiation producing modalities)
  • Provides radiation protection to patient, family, staff and self, according to prescribed safety standards (Radiation producing modalities)
  • Adheres to all safety requirements in non-radiation producing modalities (MRI, Ultrasound)
  • Reviews requests and written orders, checking for special instructions from physicians and consults with physician as needed
  • Pleasantly greets patient, confirming their identity using two identifiers and introducing oneself
  • Communicates and appropriate customer relation skills with patients, families, and all members of the healthcare team
  • Completely explains examination procedure to the patient and family, if present
  • Performs all routine radiographic, fluoroscopic, portable procedures as assigned
  • Performs advanced modality examinations as assigned
  • May be assigned to Diagnostic Radiology or advanced modality area, as determined by supervisor
  • Performs visual preventive safety inspections of all equipment used and communicates problems to supervisor
  • Maintains necessary inventory of supplies, rotating stock in an orderly fashion, and eliminating outdated items
  • Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of the department
  • Recognizes emergency situations and initiates codes procedures as needed
  • Completes all aspects of a patient's exam, including ensuring images are available for physician review on PACS in a timely manner, charging procedures and supplies, documenting contrast usage, and documenting history or additional PACS notes
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies and procedures
  • Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
  • Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
  • Regular and prompt attendance
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
  • Related duties as assigned

Additional Information

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required
  • Successful completion of an approved course in Radiologic Technology and 4 years experience conducting routine diagnostic procedures, two of which were in IR Required
  • Completion of an approved program in advanced modality Required OR
  • 1 year experience in advanced modality Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Radiologic Technology may substitute for up to one year of experience in conducting routine diagnostic procedures. Required
  • Registry with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Diagnostic Radiology Required
  • Advanced registry for advanced modalities, and may be required for certain modalities Preferred
  • Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
