What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Worker - Storytelling position at UNIVERSITY OF SILICON VALLEY?
Summary
Part-time position intended for student workers working both individually and at times part of a team to discover, document, and share the real-world achievements of USV students, those working on internships, industry projects, startups, or portfolio-defining work, by producing engaging stories that inspire peers, inform industry partners, and elevate USV’s reputation.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify USV students doing notable internship, project, or entrepreneurial work. (Staff and Faculty can assist with these efforts)
- Conduct interviews (in person, Zoom, or email) with students, faculty mentors, and internship hosts.
- Write polished stories in a consistent USV Story Format.
- Collaborate with the social media team to publish on Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and campus channels.
- Work with the video team to turn stories into short video features.
Deliverables (monthly):
- Minimum 4 published student stories
- Social media posts summarizing each story
- One short video script visuals per featured student
- Performing other duties and related responsibilities as assigned by Chief Experience and Partnership Officer
Requirements:
Maintain a 2.5 GPA
Enrolled at USV for the term with a minimum of 12 credits.
Skills:
- Strong writing and interviewing ability
- Ability to connect with students across disciplines
- Familiarity with social media storytelling
- Deadline-driven and organized
- Maintain regular communication with manager
- Maintains approved class and work schedule with minimal to no conflicts
- Follow direction from assigned department manager
- Ability to establish interpersonal rapport and relate to individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures
