Job Purpose:
The University of Scranton seeks applicants for the position of Vice President for Mission and Ministry. Reporting to the President, the vice president is a member of the president's cabinet and is responsible for articulating, enhancing and promoting the University's Catholic and Jesuit identity across all constituencies while ensuring that programs align with and support the University's mission. The Vice President provides leadership and direction for the departments of Campus Ministries, the Jesuit Center, and the Center for Service and Social Justice while overseeing mission and ministry initiatives for the University community including students, staff and faculty.

Essential Duties:
- Supervise, lead and develop Campus Ministries, Jesuit Center and Center for Service and Social Justice staff- Ensure effective articulation, implementation, and enhancement of the institutions Catholic and Jesuit Mission and Identity for the entire University community including students, staff, faculty and external constituents
  • Provide innovative leadership to integrate Mission and Campus Ministry programs with other divisions within the University community through collaboration with the Provosts Office, Student Life and other departments as applicable
  • Promote and cultivate Catholic, Jesuit mission integration in the curriculum and co-curricular activities
  • Serve as a visible, involved role model of the Society of Jesus commitment to faith and justice
  • Plan, organize and direct the preparation of strategic, tactical and annual plans and budgets for the Mission and Campus Ministry division
  • Provide leadership for the communitys pastoral needs by overseeing a wide variety of Roman Catholic sacramental programs and services, and faith-based programs for diverse religious traditions
  • Serve as a member of the Presidents Cabinet and other University committees and task forces as needed
  • Work in cooperation with other vice presidents in management and policy making for the institution
  • Assist the President regarding the Universitys mission and mission related initiatives, programs and publications

  • Excellent facilitation, collaboration, and consensus-building skills to foster inclusion among a diverse group of constituents
  • Outstanding decisive management skills including delegation and accountability
  • Proactive in facilitating organizational change and campus climate conducive to mission
  • Substantial training in spiritual direction and retreat programming
  • Demonstrates unconcealed faith, commitment to prayer and reflective spirituality
  • Must be able to respect, support and contribute to the Universitys Catholic and Jesuit mission

Minimum Education Requirements:
  • Applicants must have a masters degree

Preferred Education:
  • A terminal degree is preferred

Minimum Job Experience Requirements:
- Pastoral experience in spirituality formation, mission effectiveness or other related field is required- Training and expertise in Jesuit spirituality, especially the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola- Demonstrated leadership position(s) at institutions(s) of higher education- Demonstrated track record of proactive solutions to increase engagement within a mission-driven organization

Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Additional hours as required.
