Job Purpose:
The Title IX & Civil Rights Investigator is responsible for conducting prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations into allegations of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation involving students, faculty, and staff. This role ensures university compliance with Title IX, Title VII, Title VI, the Clery Act, VAWA, and other federal and state civil rights laws. In addition to investigative duties, this position plays a key role in campus training efforts and proactive student engagement initiatives to foster a safe, equitable, and inclusive campus environment.


Essential Duties:
  • Conduct comprehensive, trauma-informed, and impartial investigations into reports of sexual misconduct, domestic/dating violence, stalking, and discrimination and harassment based on protected classes
  • Develop investigative plans, identify and interview parties and witnesses, and gather and preserve relevant evidence
  • Draft detailed, objective investigative reports that clearly summarize the evidence, timelines, and statements for review by decision-makers
  • Maintain accurate, meticulous, and confidential case files within the department's record-keeping system
  • Provide regular updates to the Title IX Coordinator regarding case status and timelines
  • Collaborate with the Title IX Coordinator to design, update, and deliver comprehensive prevention, compliance, and awareness training for students, faculty, and staff
  • Facilitate specialized training sessions for specific campus populations, including student leaders, residential life staff, athletics
  • Stay current on evolving federal and state regulations, case law, and best practices related to civil rights and Title IX compliance
  • Actively engage with the student body to build trust, raise awareness of civil rights and Title IX protections, and reduce barriers to reporting
  • Participate in campus-wide wellness, equity, and safety initiatives
  • Serve as a visible resource for students, answering general questions about the university's policy, reporting options, and available supportive measures

  • Exceptional analytical, writing, and interviewing skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data into a cohesive report
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to remain neutral, empathetic, and professional when handling highly sensitive and emotional situations
  • The ability to uphold human dignity and respect by recognizing each person's worth, valuing diverse perspectives, and treating others with kindness, fairness, and empathy
  • Must be able to respect, support and contribute to the University's Catholic and Jesuit mission


Minimum Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Higher Education Administration, Criminal Justice, Psychology, Human Resources, or a closely related field


Preferred Education:
  • Advanced degree (J.D., Master's, or Ph.D.) in a relevant field
  • Certified Title IX Investigator training (e.g., ATIXA, TNG, or equivalent certification)

Minimum Job Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience conducting investigations, preferably in civil rights, Title IX, or human resources investigations within a higher education setting
