Position Summary

The Visiting Assistant Professor of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) is a full-time faculty position teaching undergraduate-level courses in the Speech-Language Pathology program, commensurate with the candidate’s level of training and experience. The SLP faculty member also supervises student clinicians in the John A. Morris Speech and Language Clinic and other off-site locations. Successful candidates must demonstrate a high degree of individual initiative and observe high standards of personal and professional integrity. The anticipated start date for this position is August 2026.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The following duties are representative of the essential functions of this position. This list is not exhaustive, and other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Teach a course load of 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semesters.
  • Supervise student clinicians in clinical practicums in the areas of language, articulation and phonology, fluency, voice, and cognitive disorders.
  • Provide clinical supervision at the John A. Morris Speech and Language Clinic and potential off-site locations.
  • Maintain required office and clinic hours.
  • Serve on committees and assist with School of Education & Speech-Language Pathology and university activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders.
  • Minimum of nine months of professional experience working with children and/or adults with communication disorders, completed after the award of the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • ASHA transcript demonstrating completion of continuing education hours in ethics, multiculturalism, and clinical supervision, or willingness to complete such continuing education by August 24, 2026.
  • Demonstrated high degree of individual initiative and high standards of personal and professional integrity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or a related field.

  • Occasional lifting of clinic materials and equipment up to 15 pounds.
