The Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network (FLDRN) is a not-for-profit organ procurement organization serving 20 counties across New York's Finger Lakes, Central, and Upstate regions, from Monroe and Onondaga to Jefferson, St. Lawrence, Steuben, and Tompkins. We are the link between donors and families who choose to Donate Life and the patients waiting for life-saving organ transplants and life-improving tissue and corneal transplants. We work closely with the region's hospitals to ensure that donation decisions made by individuals are honored.
Our mission is the recovery of organs and tissues for people in need of transplant. We are committed to building awareness and understanding of donation among healthcare professionals and the public, and to giving individuals and families the knowledge to make informed decisions. Our vision is a society where donation is universally accepted as a fundamental value, every suitable organ and tissue is transplanted, and the urgent demand for organs is met.
We're seeking an Executive Director to provide visionary leadership toward that vision. You will direct day-to-day operations, set strategy, and ensure FLDRN meets its annual goals within the University of Rochester Medicine structure.
What you'll do:
- Lead the whole organization: clinical operations, finance, development, quality, compliance,
- strategic planning, and new program development
- Set and achieve annual goals and objectives, and guide the expansion and improvement of
- services
- Partner with transplant program leaders at local, regional, and national hospitals, and with
- transplant centers in our DSA and UNOS Region 9, to drive continuous performance improvement
- Develop best practices for organ recovery and build strong relationships with donor
- hospitals
- Recruit and engage healthcare and community leaders for FLDRN's Advisory Board, and work with
- them on targeted initiatives to increase donation
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws, regulations, and guidelines on organ
- donation, and keep policies and procedures current
- Prepare and manage the annual budget, recommend capital expenditures, and negotiate and execute contracts
- Lead public and professional outreach to grow NY State Donate Life Registry enrollment, and
- serve as FLDRN's media spokesperson
- Represent FLDRN on the Donate Life New York State Board of Directors, with OPTN/UNOS and AOPO, and with other health organizations and community groups
- Report to the Joint Committee on Quality of Care at Strong Memorial Hospital
The desired candidate will have:
- Minimally, a bachelor’s degree
- At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in clinical, personnel, and fiscal management of an
- Organ Procurement Organization
- Previous experience as a senior leader in an OPO
