POSITION SUMMARY: The Manager of Student Centers and Operations is responsible for day-to-day operations of student involvement (CSI) spaces, manages the Center for Student Involvement (CSI) Information Desk/Front Desk operations and staffing located in the Student Commons, provides logistical support for programs and events, and assists with scheduling space and resources. The Manager oversees marketing and communication efforts at the Center for Student Involvement, working collaboratively with cross-functional CSI teams and campus partners to enhance student experience and foster a welcoming, engaging environment.
Operations
- Oversees the daily operations and supervision of the CSI Information Desk/Front Desk, ensuring seamless service for students and the campus community.
- Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates student employees working at the Information Desk/Front Desk (30 student workers).
- Develops, implements, and assesses a comprehensive leadership and training program for student employees at the desk.
- Maintains policies and procedures for Front Desk operations, including reservations, key check-outs, equipment rentals, deliveries, and general inquiries.
- Manages student employee scheduling, payroll, and professional development. Serves as the primary point of contact for student workers and escalates concerns to appropriate CSI leadership as needed.
- Regularly assesses desk operations, technology, and resources to enhance efficiency and student support.
- Oversees inventory of departmental office supplies and equipment for CSI and makes necessary purchases in collaboration with the Associate Director.
Facilities & Event Support
- Responsible for day-to-day operations of student involvement (CSI) spaces.
- Provides logistical and operational support for CSI programs, including event setup, takedown, and resource management, including technology.
- Oversees event reservation processes, equipment rentals, and space management to ensure smooth event execution.
- Supports audio-visual requests and technical needs for events in CSI spaces.
- Collaborates with campus partners (Facilities, Events, Risk Management) to meet the needs of student events.
- Assists with campus-wide initiatives and special events that require CSI involvement.
Marketing & Communication
- Oversees print and digital marketing efforts, including graphic design, social media, web content, photography, and videography for CSI.
- Develops marketing strategies for major campus-wide events, including Weeks of Welcome, Homecoming, and SpiderFest.
- Manages and updates facility visuals and displays within Tyler Haynes Commons, including digital signage requests from internal and external partners.
- Approves requests for tabling and coordinates daily set-ups.
- Supervises and trains 1-3 student marketing assistants per semester.
- Provides marketing support for student organization events and CSI programming as requested.
Other Responsibilities
- Contributes to long-term planning and strategy for CSI operational improvements.
- Participates in divisional and/or University committees and working groups on behalf of CSI.
- Performs additional duties as assigned or necessary.
CONTACTS:
- Students: Through direct supervision, resource management, and program support.
- Campus Partners: Collaborates with Communications, Events, and Facilities offices to manage marketing, logistics, and event support.
- Cross-Functional Teams: Works closely with University stakeholders and CSI teams to support strategic initiatives, share resources, and enhance operational efficiency.
- External Partners: Works with vendors and stakeholders to coordinate procurement needs.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Manages the hiring, training, and performance evaluation of student employees within the Center for Student Involvement.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT: Must be able to lift 50 pounds and assist with event set-up. Working evenings and on weekends as needed is a requirement of the position. Ability to be certified to drive University vehicles is required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency in operational management, strategic marketing, and graphic design
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with experience managing budgets and complex projects. Attention to detail while managing multiple tasks.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, EMS scheduling systems, Campus Groups, and financial reporting software, or demonstrated ability to learn
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor student employees in a dynamic environment
- Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills to foster partnerships and improve services
- Experience working within cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree required; master's preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in marketing, operational management, and/or event support, preferably in higher education or a similar setting
- Required clean driving record and 3 years of driving experience
Pay Grade 6: Salaried exempt with Benefits: $47,154 to $62,483
Scheduled Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, 38.75 hours per week.
