Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Collects, sorts, processes, and distributes incoming mail and packages to appropriate offices, mailboxes, and/or designated pick-up counters.
- Assists with logging and tracking incoming deliveries to ensure accurate recordkeeping and proper distribution.
- Prepares, bags, and processes outgoing mail according to all applicable postal regulations.
- Operates postage meter machines to weigh, stamp, and process outgoing mail and packages.
- Maintains records of metered, registered, and insured mail as required.
- Operates various mailing equipment and related software systems used in mail processing and tracking.
- Greets and assists students, faculty, staff, and other personnel utilizing mailroom services.
- Provides guidance on the most efficient and economical mailing methods and services available.
- May sell or distribute mailing supplies as needed.
- Ensures all mailroom procedures and postal regulations are followed at all times.
- Reports discrepancies, delivery issues, or concerns to appropriate personnel promptly.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills .
- Attention to detail and ability to handle confidential materials appropriately.
- Ability to provide courteous and professional customer service.
- Ability to operate basic office and mailing equipment or willingness to learn.
- Work is performed in various student mailroom centers across campus.
- May require standing, lifting mail containers up to 50lbs, and handling packages.
- Ability to lift and move packages consistent with mailroom operations.
