Provides targeted, advanced-level, clinical psychotherapy services addressing a range of mental health concerns for a diverse population of students/clients within the University’s Counseling Center. Develops treatment plans and utilizes specialized techniques to foster student development, remediate mental health problems, and promote positive mental health. Oversees comprehensive assessments and treatments, referrals for hospitalizations, and case reviews. Supervises interns and fellows and provides outreach programming and consultation. Provides on-call emergency coverage, prepares reports, and performs administrative duties.

To serve the needs of medical school community, we employ a multidisciplinary staff of mental health professionals, including licensed professional counselors, psychologists, and social workers in various mental health disciplines.
The SOM Staff Counselor will provide direct and indirect services to students including but not limited to, individual, relationship, and group therapy, clinical consultation, outreach programming, and participate in supervision and training as selected and/or assigned. The Staff Counselor will have the opportunity to serve on committees within and outside of the medical school

Preference given to applicants with expertise/interest in the following areas: Crisis Management, Multicultural Care, Stepped Care, Telemental Health, Embedded Services, Psychological Assessments, Disordered Eating, Gender Affirmation Trauma, Substance Use, Research, Graduate, Professional and International student concerns. PA licensure or eligible to attain such licensure within 12 months of hire.
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. *a flex/hybrid work arrangement is available upon hire with some hours outside of normal business hours based on student need. Mostly remote, but must be available for in-person work as directed to accommodate student needs. **Must be within commuting distance of the University to be considered

- Individual and group counseling, psychological assessment, developmental and crisis counseling, and relationship counseling.
- Care coordination
- Development and participation in Outreach programming and services (e.g. Let’s Talk, TAO, Workshops, etc.)
- Administrative time
- Participation on treatment teams
- Consultation with third parities
- Clinical liaison with campus departments/programs
- Supervisor of trainees
- Advising student groups/organizations
- University and/or UCC committee meetings
