What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dispatcher (UPJ) position at University of Pittsburgh?
Serves as a campus switchboard operator and police dispatcher relaying messages and emergencies. Coordinates the activities of Security and Safety Officials and adheres to the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC's) regulations.

All Campus Police officers are certified through Pennsylvania Police Officers Education & Training Commission (MPOETC) and are armed at all times. In addition to protecting the campus community, officers enforce federal, state, and local laws, campus judicial code, and parking rules and regulations
Essential Functions
Operates radio and switchboard to receive and send messages as necessary. Relays appropriate information to Security and Safety Officials regarding emergencies. Coordinates the activities of Security and Safety Officials and ensures issues are tended to appropriately. Maintains and repairs/replaces safety equipment.Records all radio messages, both incoming and outgoing, in adherence with the FCC's regulations. Keeps detailed files of reports, forms, records, feedback, logs, and other relevant data.
Physical Effort
The successful candidate must be able to manage multiple priorities and high stress situations. The successful candidate must be able to sit stationary for significant periods of time
