Drives strategic growth and planning of all Continuing Education (CE) for a school. Spearheads the implementation strategy and application of courses and certificate delivery policies. Oversees delivery of one or more complex education or training programs. Designs and implements curriculum development and course design for Continuing Education offerings and manages all CE and training operations. Develops projects based on needs assessments and develops formal and informal CE credit programs. Updates existing curriculum, ensures accreditation requirements, coordinates all program logistics, and performs administrative duties. Oversees appropriate staffing levels to support program management. Manages budgetary functions.

This inaugural Center advances the University’s strategic vision for online, hybrid, and continuing education by partnering with Pitt’s 16 schools to expand access and improve quality for diverse learners. Pitt EDGE supports the full lifecycle of digital learning through services such as instructional design, technology integration, market analysis, academic planning, recruitment, and quality assurance.
Essential Functions
The Director of Continuing and Professional Learning provides portfolio oversight of workforce‑focused and lifelong learning programs offered through Pitt EDGE. The role reports to the Executive Director of University Digital Education and leads the development and implementation of continuing education programs, including professional certificates, short-form learning, and microcredentials aligned with industry and workforce needs. The director supervises instructional designers supporting professional learning programs, ensures consistent use of course templates and quality standards, and oversees program development and delivery. The position also builds and maintains partnerships with industry and community organizations to expand professional learning opportunities and support innovative, career‑relevant educational offerings.
Key Responsibilities
Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and work with computing technology. This position involves extensive screen time.
