Department Summary

The University of Oregon Intercollegiate Athletic Department's primary purpose is to provide a unique opportunity for student-athletes to be developed, tested, and encouraged to reach their maximum potential in every aspect of their lives. Position Summary

The men’s basketball Director of Player Development, Recruiting and External Relations will be responsible for several crucial aspects of sustaining the success of the Oregon men’s basketball program. The Director of Player Development, Recruiting and External Relations is responsible for managing the efficient operation of the men’s basketball program, including player development and student-athlete experience, monitoring and evaluating student-athletes in the NCAA Transfer Portal, alumni and donor relations, and scouting, game preparation, and film review.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five years of playing and/or coaching within a collegiate Division I men's basketball, Power Four (P4) program.

Professional Competencies

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills and the ability to multi-task and respond to immediate needs while managing day-to-day activities.
  • Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff and students from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
  • Understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work in a networked way, emphasizing collaboration in a complex environment.
  • Ability to perform detail-oriented work accurately and to communicate effectively with a diverse population.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with all constituents.
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint, XO’s video systems, and database technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Administrative experience, preferably in an intercollegiate basketball program.
  • West Coach recruiting experience
  • Division I coaching and recruiting experience.
  • Business background.
