Postdoctoral Researcher

University of Oklahoma Health Campus
Oklahoma, OK Full Time
POSTED ON 4/20/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 6/17/2026

About the Position

The Cui Lab at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our team on NIH-funded research projects aimed at understanding the brain mechanisms that regulate ingestive behavior, metabolic homeostasis, and cardiovascular function. Our research combines molecular, cellular, behavioral, and physiological approaches to investigate how the brain coordinates metabolic and autonomic processes essential for whole-body homeostasis. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with advanced neuroscience techniques, including optogenetics/chemogenetics, in vivo calcium imaging (fiber photometry and miniscope recordings in behaving mice), and electrophysiological recordings. The position also offers training in neural circuit mapping, transgenic mouse models, and metabolic and cardiovascular phenotyping.

Eligibility and Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated research productivity, evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and/or manuscripts in preparation.
  • Prior experience working with transgenic mouse models.
  • Background in CNS-related research, metabolic regulation, or cardiovascular physiology is desirable but not required.
  • Eligibility for NIH training grants (e.g., T32) is preferred but not required.

Application

Applicants should submit the following materials as a single PDF file to Dr. Huxing Cui (huxing-cui@ou.edu):

  1. Cover Letter: Describe your research interests and career goals, and explain how your training aligns with our research on CNS control of ingestive behavior, metabolic homeostasis, and cardiovascular function.
  2. Curriculum Vitae: Include a complete list of publications, presentations, technical skills, awards, and the contact information for three references.
  3. Research Statement: Briefly summarize your doctoral research and discuss how your expertise would contribute to the scientific directions of the lab.
