Maintenance Mechanic

General Description / Primary Purpose

This is skilled trades work in plumbing, electrical, and air conditioning equipment installation, maintenance, and repair.

Job Functions

Performs preventive maintenance for heating, air conditioning

and refrigeration.

Perform routine maintenance.

Inspects equipment assigned to Maintenance/Energy

Management.

Maintains swimming pool.

Maintains and inspects campus fire extinguishers.

This position is designated as a Tier 2 respondent for designated campus emergencies and events. In the event of a declared campus emergency, the position incumbent will make every effort to return to campus when directed.

Marginal Functions

Leadership.

• Supervises lesser skilled workers in the absence of immediate supervisor
• discusses projects with immediate supervisor to exchange ideas on methods to be used and to eliminate misunderstandings prior to beginning the work
• takes responsibility seriously and works to achieve goals of management.
