General Description / Primary Purpose
This position’s duties will include assisting with the management of admissions’ events on and off campus. This includes Open Houses, Apply in July recruitment events and transfer students events as well as receptions both on and off campus while staying within the Enrollment Services brand and the Academic Affairs brand promise. The Events Specialist will work with the Assistant Director Events and the Associate Director of Admissions to coordinate and support the on-campus and off-campus recruitment, yield and retention events. The position participates as a professional member of the outreach and recruitment team to engage prospective students, parents, and other constituents with the goal of recruiting students to the University. The Events Specialist is responsible for greeting guests visiting the University of North Florida campus and assisting prospective students and their families with questions related to their visit.
Essential Duties

Job Function
This person must use the computer to perform many of the functions of the position. At times, this person must be able to give the standard tour presentation to weekday and large group tour guests. The Specialist is expected to understand higher education recruitment and enrollment strategy with a special focus on event best practices. This position requires exceptional communication (presentation skills), organizational and leadership skills with a creative vision focused on continued improvement across the spectrum of responsibilities.

Marginal Functions
Data entry. Answering phone calls, taking messages. Mailing/preparing mailings of recruitment literature. Public speaking. Knowledge of the University of North Florida application process. Knowledge of the Jacksonville area a priority in recruitment.

Required Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization; or a high school diploma and four years of experience directly related to the job functions. Directly related college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Must be an enthusiastic supporter of UNF and its programs. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including professional public speaking skills. Must understand branding, brand management and brand consistency. Must possess strong detail and time management skills. Ability to work independently and accomplish tasks under deadline stresses. Basic knowledge of word processing and database accessing. Commitment to a customer-oriented provision of branded service.
In this position, work hours will vary. They will include extensive evening and weekend hours.

This position has been designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). This position has been designated as a CSA because it involves significant responsibility for student and campus activities and/or responsibility for campus security. As such, any person in this position must report to the University Police Department a crime or an incident that might be a crime that he/she becomes aware of. This position has a reporting requirement because the University believes that responsibility for students, campus activities and/or campus security will make the holder of this position someone members of the University community will see as an authority figure and someone to whom they can seek help. A CSA is not expected to investigate or determine whether a criminal incident actually took place. A CSA’s responsibility is a duty to report. All positions designated as CSAs are required to complete an online or in-person training session. The holder of this position is designated as a “Responsible Employee” pursuant to their role under Title IX.
