Simulation Specialist SE Campus
Salary/Position Classification

Purpose of Position
The Simulation Specialist performs a full range of professional duties assisting colleagues with designing and implementing simulation curriculum (courses, content, and materials). He or she works collaboratively with the NE Campus Simulation Center staff to implement education activities including assisting with curriculum development within a collaborative practice framework. He or she will help with needs assessment, curriculum, design and implementation, simulation education classes, and follow-up with evaluation data collection. He or she will also collaborate with the campus staff regarding day-to-day operations and administration. He or she will coordinate maintenance and repair of the simulators, and simulation equipment, oversee manikin moulage, and oversee AV and simulator operations for the SE Campus Simulation Center.
Duties & Responsibilities
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the SE Campus Simulation Center, including education materials, scenario development, maintenance and operations of simulators and simulation equipment, manikin moulage, scheduling, AV, simulator, and equipment needs for the Simulation Center
- Coordinate all repair and maintenance for the simulation equipment and AV system.
- Oversee and \the SE Campus Simulation Center's education materials and scenario development.
- Collaborate with the Simulation Technicians, Simulation Operations Specialist, Simulation Education Coordinator, and Medical Director as needed and for assistance.
- Oversee the simulators, simulation supplies, equipment, and AV equipment. This includes, but is not limited to simulator programming, manikin moulage, and staff training.
- Manage the inventory for the Simulation Center, including tracking, ordering, and inventory reporting.
- Collaborate with the Simulation Center and SE Campus administration and staff regarding center needs. a. Assist with budgetary recommendations for the Simulation Center space. b. Collect and disseminate data related to utilization and customer satisfaction.
- Oversees optimal utilization of the Center through event scheduling and coordination of simulation assets.
- Designated point of contact for requests to utilize the Simulation Center; triage, schedule, and provide timely follow-up with requests.
- Coordinate all aspects of simulation environments, including preparation, set-up, props, clothing, clean-up, etc.
- Maintain a safe environment during simulation activities.
- Maintain cleanliness and neatness of the simulation center, including storage areas.
- Provide recommendations to the Simulation Center Medical Director and Program Administrator, regarding future purchase and acquisition of additional medical simulation equipment.
Assist and collaborate with the Simulation Education Coordinator, the Simulation Technical Specialist, and Medical Director on developing interdisciplinary curriculum design for the SE Campus Simulation Center
As needed, assist with:
- The design of simulation scenarios for use with a variety of in-situ or human patient simulators.
- The design of course objectives to reflect stakeholder learning needs.
- The development of scenarios to meet the stakeholder objectives.
- Evaluation of physiologic trends in scenario design.
- The development of and distribution of detailed scenario worksheets to Sim Center staff in regard to simulator presentation, medication preparation, moulage, and equipment needs.
- The development of facilitator materials for scenarios.
- The analysis of assessment tools and outcomes to be used in scenario development.
- Identify and implement cognitive and psychomotor skills into healthcare scenarios.
- Participate in scenario rehearsal and make modifications as needed.
- Assist with programming scenarios and evaluation of scenario physiologic sequencing.
Teach/Instruct education courses
- Develop course objectives with measurable outcomes to meet course curriculum requirements.
- Teach in the simulation curriculum, including, but not limited to medical students, medical residents, nursing students, paramedics, and practicing professional healthcare providers.
- Assist in teaching multidisciplinary medical simulation education courses.
- Demonstrate expertise in communication and teaching to a variety of educational groups. 5. Use evaluative materials and constructive feedback to modify education applications and modalities, as needed.
Collaborate with SE Campus Simulation Center staff on various projects that fulfill the Simulation Center’s mission
- Collaborate with Center staff to compile research and assist with grants for funding to support simulation activities.
- Assist staff on simulation evaluation for the Simulation Center.
- Collaborate with Center staff to review and revise Simulation Center procedures and operational processes.
Required Competencies

Center users, including, but not limited to, staff, learners, vendors, and external
healthcare agencies. - Working knowledge of and proficiency in computers.
- Must be able to travel locally, statewide, or nationally
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Paramedicine, Physician Assistant Studies, Health or Medical Science, Family Nurse Practitioner or an Associate degree and 3 years of related experience
- Minimum of 5-years of experience in clinical practice in patient-centered healthcare
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with teaching or instruction
- Experience in simulation learning environments for health professionals
- Experience with simulation systems, including patient simulator technology and
software, such as LLEAP, Maestro, UNI, LearningSpace, Axis, Device Manager, etc. - Work experience or education in the healthcare field, information technology, or basic
sciences - Experience with Windows-based operating systems
- Experience in adult education
