This position will work onsite the Grand Forks, ND campus.
Purpose of Position
The Senior Electronic Resources Librarian manages acquisitions workflow strategies and activates and maintains the Chester Fritz Library’s (CFL) electronic resource holdings to make them discoverable and accessible. Electronic resource holdings include eBooks, streaming videos, journals, database subscriptions, born digital content, and other electronic collections. Maintenance of these holdings includes tracking perpetual access rights, journal publisher and publication frequency changes, and changes to electronic collections in CFL’s integrated library system, Ex Libris’s Alma/Primo. Acquisitions includes workflows for print and digital content, as well as special collections. The librarian additionally supports the user experience of CFL’s electronic collections, assisting in troubleshooting access issues, designing user experience studies, and investigating options for improving user access. This position will also support the Head of Collection Strategies around license review and tracking and the Collection Development Team through data visualization and analysis of library collections. The Senior Electronic Resources Librarian will report to the Head of Collection Strategies and supervise the Subscription and Acquisitions Specialists.
Duties & Responsibilities
Ensure discovery of and access to the Library’s electronic resource holdings
Develop procedures and workflows to make the Library’s electronic resources discoverable and accessible.
Activate Library’s electronic collections, firm order titles such as eBooks, and digital media such as streaming videos.
Track streaming videos used for coursework, renewing their licenses and updating their holdings as needed.
Adds online federal government document records from the federal depository library program (FDLP) to Alma/Primo.
Implements a workflow for born digital and open access resource acquisitions in collaboration with technical services and digitization.
Ensure accuracy of electronic holdings, including checking changes to journal publishers and publication frequency in EBSCOnet and other publisher sources.
Track Alma updates to address the impact of electronic collection changes.
Collaborates with technical services staff for electronic records cataloging needs.
Maintain records of Library’s perpetual access holdings.
Support electronic resource accessibility in alignment with the ADA digital accessibility guidelines by communicating with vendors.
Supervises Subscription Specialist and Acquisitions Specialist
Meet regularly with supervisees to mentor, check-in, and provide support for staff.
Advocate for supervisees to Head of Collection Strategies in regards to resource requests.
Collaborate with the Head of Collection Strategies to hire, train, evaluate & make performance-related decisions.
Manage workflow and work assignments for assigned personnel to ensure prompt and accurate selection and organization of new material and responses to patron requests.
Manage staff responsible for firm orders and subscription invoices.
At the direction of the Head of Collection Strategies, monitor accountability measures and statistics to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and impact of staff efforts.
Improve the user experience and student success through the Library’s collections
Develop and implement programs, activities and projects designed to improve the user experience in accessing electronic resources, such as setting up single sign-on options with vendors and working with LibKey implementation.
Collaborate with the Collections Team to design and implement user experience studies to guide decisions around resource discovery and collection investments.
Collaborate with the Systems Librarian around Alma/Primo updates and potential changes the Library may want to make to improve electronic resource discoverability and accessibility.
Track and assess e-resources issues and follow-ups.
In conjunction with the Head of Collection Strategies and Subscription Specialist, work with vendors, publishers, consortial partners, and the procurement office to proactively address ordering, access, payment, and performance issues.
Play a key role in student success as part of a student affordability initiatives team led by the Open Educational Resources Librarian, including work with digital course packs.
Work with the Stacks Maintenance Team to manage the shelving, retrieval, and delivery of physical library materials in support of the user experience.
Stay current on emerging trends, resources, practices, and standards in electronic resource management, access, and discovery to enhance library services.
Support specific department or other specialized collections as needed.
Provide support for license review, negotiation, and tracking at the direction of the Head of Collection Strategies
Provide support for license review and preparation of amendments and order forms.
Prepare materials and participates in negotiation discussions as requested.
Implement a license tracking management, renewal, and discovery system within Alma to include ILL and course reserve license information.
Stay current on emerging trends, resources, practices, and standards in library licensing and negotiations.
Analyze Library collection usage data to guide collection strategies.
Collaborate with the Collection Development Team in developing reports or tools for budget analysis, value assessment and decision-making.
Maintain usage data integrity in LibInsights.
Compile and report usage and other relevant metrics to support licensing and subscription renewal decisions with student worker support.
Partner with the Head of Collection Strategies and other stakeholders on data analysis and data visualization projects to make collections decisions and share success stories. Stay current with emerging trends, resources, practices, and standards in usage statistics, data management and analysis.
Engage in research activities and service
Submit and create presentations for national, regional, and local events.
Submit and publish research, case studies, and other scholarship in peer-reviewed journals and professional publications.
Seek and accept opportunities to serve on national, regional, and local committees.
Keep current on the latest developments in the field of academic librarianship and related areas of responsibility and interest through reading the professional literature and through electronic communication tools, such as discussion lists, blogs and other technologies and by attending training sessions and webinars on new technologies, practices, methodologies, and resources.
Participate in meetings, conferences, workshops, or webinars, locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally as appropriate.

Master’s degree from an ALA accredited program.
2 years of experience working in a library.
Experience analyzing collection usage data.
