Salary/Position Classification

  • $165,000 9-month contract, Exempt
    • Additional compensation for the role of Department Chair of approximately $15,000 will be paid over the 9-month contract with an additional one month's salary ($18,000 ) to be paid May 16 - August 15.
    • Additional stipend for Strinden Endowed Chair of approximately $20,000 .
  • 40 hours per week

Purpose of Position

The ideal candidate will have proven leadership experience along with a track record of excellence in teaching and research. Reporting directly to the Dean of the Nistler College of Business & Public Administration, the new Chair’s primary leadership responsibility will be to work with college and institutional stakeholders to further develop and enhance the Middleton School’s entrepreneurship and other programs with the aim of achieving significant enrollment growth. The ultimate goal is to establish the reputation of the Middleton School as one of regional prominence.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teaching - up to two courses per semester in the field of management, entrepreneurship, or human resources at the undergraduate or graduate level
  • Research - ongoing scholarly research agenda commensurate with expectations for a tenured full professor and AACSB faculty qualification
  • Service - ongoing professional engagement through active participation in academic or professional organizations
  • Administration - In this role, the Chair will be responsible for administering and advancing the School’s academic programs, operations, personnel, budget, and student-focused activities. They will mentor and support faculty and staff at all levels, be an advocate for the School, and build strong relationships with alumni, businesses, and the wider community. They will work closely with the Dean of the Nistler College of Business & Public Administration and the rest of the leadership team in advancing the College’s strategic goals

Minimum Requirements

  • PhD or DBA in entrepreneurship, management, or closely related field from an AACSB-accredited institution.
  • A sustained record of quality research, effective teaching, and service commensurate with appointment to Full Professor in the Middleton School of Entrepreneurship & Management.
  • Evidence in support of AACSB Faculty Qualification standards for Scholarly Academic (SA).
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Evidence of a distinguished academic career with nationally recognized contributions to innovative university teaching, service, and scholarly contributions in Entrepreneurship, Management, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated record of academic leadership and administrative experience (such as a department chair, associate chair, academic program director, or center director).
  • Record of envisioning, designing, leading, and/or implementing innovative programs that are responsive to meeting market needs and growing enrollment.
  • Experience building collaborative relationships within the academic environment and with external stakeholders such as alumni, industry partners, and business communities.
