The Office of Housing and Residence Life at UNCW employs a staff of students and temporary maintenance workers during the summer. The primary mission is to assist the full-time Maintenance Staff in performing routine maintenance work and are an important part of the day-to-day operations in the summer transitions process. A major area of responsibility emphasized is customer service. Please refer to the position description below for detailed information. Positions will start May 12 and end early/mid-August.
Position Responsibilities
Previous experience in one or more trades.
Required Certifications or Licensure
Must have a current/valid driver's license.
Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit College/School Information Work Hours 7:00AM - 4:00PM Work Days Monday - Thursday Hours Per Week at least 20 hours per week Type of Position Anticipated Hiring Range $15 / hour. A 4-day lunch pass is available for employees who work more than 30 hours. Special Instructions to Applicants
Please note, this is a temporary position. This position will start on May 12, 2025, and end in early/mid August. Temporary assignments cannot exceed 11 consecutive months without a full 31-day break from employment. Employees in temporary positions are not considered permanent state employees and do not earn leave. Temporary employees are subject to the Affordable Care Act guidelines. Position Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance work in residence halls, apartments, and suites which includes but is not limited to:
- Lifting/Moving Furniture
- Painting
- Drywall repair
- Ceiling tile replacement
- Power Washing
- Assist Maintenance Technicians with various remodeling and repair projects
- Communicate the status of jobs that are assigned daily as to the completeness of the task
- Present professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintain a high level of customer service
- Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Facility Operations and/or the Lead Maintenance Technician
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
- Excellent public relations and customer service skills
- Ability to work under time constraints with scheduled deadlines
- Maintenance or facilities experience is beneficial however not required
