| Primary Purpose of Department | The Department of University Recreation (UREC) is an integral part of the Health & Wellbeing Unit within Student Affairs. UREC includes facilities, programs, and services designed to empower members of the UNC Charlotte community, with a particular focus on students, to be physically active and develop lifelong health and wellbeing behaviors. The department includes two indoor recreation centers, two field complexes, an outdoor fitness park, sport programs, and fitness programs. UREC seeks to provide a framework for educational, leadership, and development opportunities for students through participation. UREC also provides an exceptional employment experience to more than 250 students that fosters the development of essential career readiness skills. |
| Primary Purpose of Position | The Program Director for Student Development and Assessment is an essential member of the UREC team, providing leadership to student employee development initiatives and department assessment, with direct supervision of an intern. The Program Director for Student Development and Engagement provides leadership to student development initiatives for the more than 250 University Recreation student employees. This role manages department wide student development initiatives, including processes and procedures, awards and recognition, trainings, and other professional development opportunities for UREC student employees. The Program Director also provides leadership to department assessment projects and initiatives. |
