| Work Schedule | 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; Monday - Friday with occasional evening and weekend hours required, as necessary, and with 'on-call' designation. This position is designated as 'mandatory' and, when contacted to report to work, is expected to reach the campus as expeditiously as possible using normal precautions as dictated by the adverse weather conditions. |
| Primary Purpose of Position | This is a Facility Maintenance Technician (Building Trades) at the Journey level with a specialty in general repair (Cabinetmaking, Carpentry, Locksmithing, Masonry, Painting. Plastering. or Roofing). The position is considered to be fully functioning in a particular trade area. Additionally. this position is expected to be able to perform all general maintenance work at contributing or journey level. Tasks may include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction and design of facility components in assigned zone or core maintenance. |

Required Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Note: Some state job postings state you can qualify by an 'equivalent combination of education and experience.' If that language appears above, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both. |

| Other Work Responsibilities | Identifies obvious and potential safety issues and problems by building on contributing competencies. Regularly assesses zone site and shop operations for safety. Identifies potential safety problems and unsafe work practices. Demonstration of knowledge of all related safety and security regulations. Understands, complies and keeps current with University Safety, State, and OSHA requirements and reading safety manuals. Takes corrective action as experienced at contributing level and independently resolves potential known facility or equipment damages or unsafe conditions. Demonstrates to employees and others, safe ways to perform job tasks or the use of equipment. Monitors the corrective action developed in contributing level and incorporates accident prevention and corrective measures in work related activities. Follows appropriate post emergency procedures and assists others as needed. Determines uses and assists others with appropriate protective equipment based on established standards and protocols. Ensures equipment is properly operated and maintained. Services and/or replaces clean and maintains equipment and machinery. |
