Work Schedule

Flexible schedule based on operational event needs, focused on afternoons, evenings, late nights, and weekends Tuesday - Saturday. Typical shift times are between 10am - 7pm and adjust as required based on event needs.

Pay Rate
$20-$22 Per Hour

Minimum Experience/Education
  • Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in operations, event management, and outdoor events.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Must have a Valid Driver License and be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.


Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
  • Experience in higher education, student unions, or event venue management.
  • Hands-on experience with event operations in indoor and outdoor settings (Stages, tents , tables and chairs).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop student staff.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in varied indoor/outdoor environments.
  • Operations Coordination & Program Management: Ability to oversee event logistics, facilities, and student programs.
  • Managing Work & Performance: Ability to lead and mentor student staff, provide direction, and assess outcomes.
  • Decision Making & Problem Solving: Ability to resolve event and technical issues effectively.
  • Customer Service: Commitment to high-level service for students, staff, faculty, and external guests.


Duties and Responsibilities

Operations Coordination (Primary):

  • Oversee evening and weekend building operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and customer-focused service.
  • Responsible for outdoor event operations, event support, student development, and an overall program of high-end customer support
  • Coordinate and support events in key venues such as McKnight Hall, Lucas Room, 49th Acre and other locations.
  • Serve as on-site outdoor support for major events (e.g., Chancellor-related events, Tailgating and 49th Acre events)
  • Administer event logistics, including scheduling, client communication, room setups, and risk management.
  • Collaborate with Reservations, Facilities, AV/Tech Services, and Administration teams to ensure excellent event execution.
  • Manage student employees (20-30), including hiring, training, scheduling, supervision, evaluation, and recognition
  • Participate in the department's Student Employee Experience Program and follow expectations for supervisors in the program.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with Student Union Operations Coordinator and other department operations staff to ensure seamless experience across Student Centers facilities for clients and student staff.
  • Maintain inventory and oversee operational equipment, supplies, and preventative maintenance under the direction of the Assistant Director
  • Act as an "Mandatory Employee" during inclement weather to support building operations and report to campus when requested.
  • Support and participate in Student Centers committees, programs and initiatives as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Other Work/Responsibilities

Operations Oversight: Manage evening and weekend building operations, as well as all outdoor spaces event operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and customer-focused service.

Event Coordination: Lead event operations across indoor and outdoor venues, including logistics, client communication, room setups, risk management, and on-site support for major campus events.

Student Staff Management: Supervise 20-30 student employees through hiring, training, scheduling, evaluation, recognition, and participation in the Student Employee Experience Program.

Interdepartmental Collaboration: Partner with Reservations, Facilities, AV/Tech Services, and other operations staff to deliver seamless event and facility experiences.

Operational Support: Maintain inventory, oversee equipment and supplies, support preventative maintenance, and serve as a mandatory employee during inclement weather.

Committee Participation: Contribute to Student Centers committees, programs, and initiatives as requested.

Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned to support the mission of Student Centers.

Necessary Licenses or Certifications

Must have a Valid Driver License flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

If they average 30 or more hours per week over a designated measurement period, they will be offered the chance to enroll in the High Deductible Health Plan and will be notified of instructions.

  • Temporary hourly workers (eligibility based on FTE, duration of more than 30 days) FTE .75 (cumulative of all jobs) or measured full-time, offered the high deductible health insurance
