Part Time Internship Coordinator

The University of New Hampshire Department of Social Work invites applications for a part-time Internship Coordinator. This position supports students as they identify, secure, and successfully complete high-quality internship placements in their home communities. The coordinator builds and sustains relationships with internship agencies and supervisors, guides students through the placement process, maintains accurate placement records, and responds promptly when concerns arise. The successful candidate will be organized, collaborative, student-centered, and comfortable coordinating relationships across multiple locations and time zones.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Recruit, assess, and cultivate internship sites and qualified internship instructors in the geographic areas where students live.
• Guide students through internship planning, including readiness, site outreach, interviews, placement matching, required documentation, and onboarding deadlines.
• Evaluate prospective agencies and supervisors for alignment with program expectations, educational goals, and applicable accreditation requirements.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for students, agency supervisors, faculty, and internship staff regarding routine placement questions, policies, and procedures.
• Coordinate summer internship program activities, including summer block placements, online program summer placements, internship coordination for foundation year internships, and communication with students during the summer.
• Support students and internship instructors during the internship; identify emerging concerns, document follow-up, and consult with the Director of Internship on complex or high-risk matters.
• Coordinate internship-planning sessions, orientations, and training or support activities for students and field instructors.
• Maintain timely and accurate records in internship education databases and shared systems, including agency information, affiliation status, supervisor credentials, student progress, and placement outcomes.
• Help maintain and update internship forms, timelines, guidance materials, and resources for students and agencies.
• Participate in internship team meetings and collaborate with Coordinators, academic advisors, seminar instructors, and other program staff to promote continuity of student support.
• Contribute to program evaluation and continuous improvement by identifying placement trends, service gaps, and opportunities to expand internship capacity.
• Perform other related responsibilities that support the effective operation of the social work internship program.
  
  

Requirements

Minimum Education & Experience:

• Master of Social Work degree from a CSWE-accredited program.
• At least two years of post-MSW professional social work experience.
• Experience in internship education, internship supervision, higher education, student advising, agency-based supervision, or a closely related area.
  
  

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work tactfully with students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, maintain detailed records, and work independently.
• Competence with online meeting platforms, learning or field-management systems, databases, and shared digital workspaces.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people from varied identities, backgrounds, communities, and professional settings.
• Availability for occasional evening meetings or events to accommodate students and agency partners.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Current independent clinical social work license or eligibility for independent licensure
• Experience supervising interns or serving as a internship instructor, faculty internship liaison, or internship coordinator.
• Experience supporting online learners or working in an online higher education program.
• Knowledge of social work field education standards, affiliation processes, and placement risk management.
• Experience developing internship partnerships across multiple states, including rural or underserved communities.

Compensation Pay Range

$25 - $30 /hour
