The Associate Coach Women's Basketball serves as the second-in-command of the Women's Basketball program and supports the Head Coach in all aspects of program leadership, administration, recruiting, coaching, and student-athlete development. This position plays a key leadership role in implementing the program's philosophy, coordinating recruiting efforts, developing offensive and defensive strategies, mentoring coaching staff, and fostering a culture of competitive excellence, academic achievement, and student-athlete well-being. The Associate Coach assists in advancing a highly visible NCAA Division I program while ensuring compliance with all University, conference, and NCAA requirements.

Duties/Responsibilities

Evaluate, recruit, and develop student-athletes (35%)

  • Identify, evaluate, recruit develop, and retain highly qualified division one student-athletes.
  • Recruit student-athletes who demonstrate athletic ability, academic excellence, and character qualifies that will contribute to program success.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with prospects, high school coaches, and AAU coaches.
  • Organize and implement player development plans, strength and conditioning plans and off-season training programs.
  • Foster and develop relationships to retain current student-athletes.

Coaching and practice planning (35%)

  • Support the head coach in all aspects of coaching, practice planning, and game scouting.
  • Organize and develop daily practice plans in conjunction with the head coach.
  • Help develop and implement offensive and defensive systems as well as make adjustments and changes throughout the year to contribute to teams’ success.
  • Support teams on court efforts to achieve conference, regional, and national success.

Leadership, Administration, Compliance (15%)

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to assistant coaches on staff.
  • Assume responsibility for program operations in absence of head coach.
  • Contribute to operational planning, budgeting, travel coordination, and other administrative duties.
  • Maintain competency with respect to NCAA, conference, and institutional policies and bylaws.

Student-Athlete Success & Program engagement (15%)

  • Promote and encourage student-athletes to achieve their highest academic potential through a culture of academic excellence and accountability.
  • Support fundraising imitates, scholarship fundraising efforts, and donor engagement activities that advance program objectives.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a strong alumni and booster support network for the Women's Basketball program.

Requirements

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of collegiate basketball coaching experience, including demonstrated success in recruiting, player development, scouting, and competitive coaching at a highly competitive level.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of NCAA, conference, institutional state, and federal rules, regulations, and recruiting practices.
  • An understanding of different offensive and defensive schemes and having the solution to defeat those particular schemes.
  • Ability to identify in game opponent strategies and adjust in real time.
  • Must have ability to lead and mentor assistance coaches.
  • Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with video analysis, scouting software, and basketball operations technology.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment and supporting student-athlete success.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of collegiate coaching experience and/or competing at the division one level.
  • Demonstrated success of recruiting collegiate student-athletes.
  • Experience supervising and managing assistant coaches, graduate assistants, or student assistants. Experience with fundraising and alumni relations.

Compensation Pay Range

$45,000.00 - $145,000.00
