Job Description

The School of Social Work at the University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting a Community Outreach Trainer for the Nevada Partnership in Training (NPT) Title IV-E Child Welfare Training Program. This grant-funded position is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering foundational, competency-based training that prepares new and experienced child welfare professionals to perform their roles safely, effectively, and in accordance with best practices. Training is delivered statewide through workshops, seminars, and in-service learning opportunities for child welfare professionals, human services staff, and community stakeholders, with select trainings offering Continuing Education Units (CEUs).


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver competency-based child welfare training to new and experienced child welfare professionals across Nevada.
  • Facilitate workshops, seminars, and in-service training for caseworkers, supervisors, public child welfare staff, and community partners.
  • Design and update training curricula and instructional materials that reflect current evidence-based practices and adult learning principles.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and revise curriculum based on participant feedback, program outcomes, and evolving practice standards.
  • Collaborate with state and local child welfare agencies and other stakeholders to identify training needs and support workforce development.
  • Maintain training records and documentation required for grant reporting and program accountability.
  • Deliver select trainings that qualify for CEUs in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the goals and objectives of the Nevada Partnership in Training Title IV-E program.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of related work experience, or Master's degree and two (2) years of related work experience. Related work experience: social work practice working with children and families in the public child welfare setting


Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated field experience applying child safety and risk/danger assessment principles and family decision-making frameworks (e.g., SAFE, Structured Decision Making, Safety Organized Practice, or comparable models) in child welfare practice.
  • Familiarity with Qualtrics or comparable survey and data collection platforms.
  • Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS) to develop, deliver, or manage training.
  • Experience using artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support curriculum development, instructional design, training content creation, or learning assessment.
  • Licensure as a social worker in the State of Nevada, or eligibility to obtain Nevada licensure.


Schedule

  • Occasional variable work schedule (to include some nights and weekends)
  • Occasional travel (local and regional)

Grants-in-Aid for Faculty Employees
