Utility Operator II

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the safe, efficient, and proper operation of all equipment associated with utility plant and distribution system serving the UNMC/Neb Med campus. Starts, operates, and shuts down boilers and their auxiliaries, chillers and their auxiliaries, generators and their auxiliaries, and all other necessary plant equipment from a central control room. Responsible for the for the operation and monitoring of the 13.8 KV and 5KV electrical distribution system serving the UNMC/Neb Med campus. Directs the activities and provides training to the Utility Operator I. Performs preventative and routine maintenance as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• High School education or GED
• 2 years experience in operation and maintenance of high-pressure boilers and related equipment to include fundamental knowledge of industrial plant chilled water, steam, and electrical systems.
• Valid motor vehicle operator's license
Valid City of Omaha 3rd, 2nd, or 1st Grade Stationary Engineer license

Will consider two years post high school education in a related vocational technical trade program/related experience.

• Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings and layouts
• Demonstrated mechanical and operational aptitude
Demonstrated ability to operate industrial or commercial control systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Relevant coursework/specialized training with a technical school, trade school, community college, apprenticeship program, and/or related education program.
• May be required to wear a respirator.
• Microsoft Excel,Microsoft Word,Microsoft Outlook
