Institute for Human Development (IHD) at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC).

Job Description

This position will serve as project manager for projects focused on maternal and child health, with the main priority with the Maternal Peer-Based Recovery Programs Technical Assistance Center (TAC). The project manager will lead the planning, coordination, and implementation of TA that supports peer-based recovery programs in Missouri. This role may manage multiple MCH-related initiatives concurrently, aligning projects, managing day-to-day operations, ensuring high-quality service delivery, managing the project timeline, and collaborating with Peer Specialists, stakeholders, sites, and the funder to drive measurable impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of multiple MCH-focused initiatives, with priority oversight of the TAC.
  • Manage workplans, timelines, deliverables, and performance metrics across initiatives.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with funder requirements, contracts, and reporting obligations.
  • Ensure TA approaches are evidence-informed and responsive to community contexts.
  • Facilitate meetings, community of practice, and other convenings.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration across research, communications, and administrative teams.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and sustainability efforts across projects.

NOTE: This position may require travel.

NOTE: This position is 100% grant funded and is contingent on continued funding.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in public health, education, public administration, social sciences, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and at least 4 years of experience in social services and organizational management from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
  • Personal lived experience or working experience with perinatal women with substance use disorders and/or co-occurring mental health conditions.
  • Three or more years of experience with project management, information dissemination, data collection, or experience on similar projects.

Demonstrated relevant experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:

  • Self-driven performance and initiative with strong skills in organizing and managing a complex project.
  • Knowledge of continuous quality improvement and evaluation frameworks.
  • Familiarity with community-driven and family-centered approaches.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience with developing training and written materials for broad dissemination and use (such as reports, publications, curriculum, tools/resources for individuals and families).
  • Participated in, coordinated, and/or led strategic planning or process consulting for organizational change.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as with a team.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel as needed.
  • Experience with grant-funded projects and reporting requirements.

Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $65,000 to $75,000 annually.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
