The Office of Student Engagement provides involvement opportunities, leadership training and volunteer experiences with an emphasis on developing transferable skills for future employment. Programs include the Women's Leadership Conference, Emerging Leaders, Mizzou Alternative Breaks and Caring for Columbia. The office advises student government and is the central campus resource for recognized student organizations.
Summary
This position supports the Student Engagement unit including Student Engagement, Leadership & Service, Fraternity & Sorority Life, Resource Centers, Student Organizations, and other student involvement programs. This role ensures timely processing of scholarships/payments, contracts, purchasing and supply orders, and other high-volume transactions; provides primary support to assigned areas; and coordinates shared resources, onboarding logistics, and space oversight.
Essential Functions
- (30%) Provide scheduling, budgetary and general support for Senior Director, Student Engagement and Leadership, as well as 10-12 other FTE professional staff. Order and maintain all supplies needed for operations of 5 distinct Centers.
- (25%) Manage budgets and contracts and provide fiscal support for 10 -20 student organizations. Provide fiscal training for those student organizations each semester and hold them accountable for following university policies. Assume responsibility for ordering event supplies for the organizations. Meeting regularly with the executive boards of each organization.
- (10%) Oversee the physical operations of 5 distinct spaces, each with its own professional and student staff. This includes all maintenance, ordering furniture, etc.
- (10%) Recruit, train and assist in the supervision and evaluation of 40 student staff across the Centers.
- (5%) Serve on campus committees, including serving as co-chair of the Campus Food Insecurity Task Force.
- (10%) Organize and implement major campus initiatives, such as Feeding for Finals, which provides thousands of meals each finals week. Conduct assessment on those initiatives. Assist Centers with the implementation of events.
- (10%) Complete other duties for the Department, Division and campus as needed and assigned.
Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
This position may require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Range: $18.87 - $23.00 per hour; paid on a biweekly basis
