College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR) Analytical Services
The College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR) Agricultural Experiment Station Chemical Laboratories is seeking a Chemist I to perform analysis of Agricultural products via Standard Operating Procedures.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Perform analytical duties within the Experiment Station Chemical Analytical Program, to include chemical analysis of all related inorganic and organic compounds.
- Provide sample preparation and analysis of submitted foods, feeds, and related materials for testing according to established laboratory procedure.
- Compile accurate/precise data and provide timely reports for all assigned work.
- Set up, adjust, and operate standard and complex laboratory apparatuses.
- Monitor the work environment to ensure safe working conditions for fellow staff.
- Maintain equipment and supplies required for non-Regulatory and Regulatory sample analyses.
- Functional supervision is exercised over an analytical team assisting in projects.
- Perform required internal and external Proficiency Checks to confirm laboratory performance.
- Assist senior-level associates in the conductance of method modification, automation, and new method development.
- Supervision is received, or as designated, by the Missouri State Chemist, Agricultural Experiment Station Chemical Laboratories.
Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Some overtime and weekends may be required.
A Bachelor's degree in related/ relevant area or equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $18.84 -$23.00 per hour
Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
