Outreach and Strategic Initiatives Librarian and Assistant Professor
The person in this position will identify, advocate, and develop innovative approaches to promote library resources and services to academic departments, faculty, and students. The Outreach and Strategic Initiatives Librarian will be responsible for the creation and dissemination of dynamic and consistent print and electronic messaging and marketing materials. Working collaboratively with faculty and staff, this position will support library efforts to create awareness, expand engagement with librarians and integrate the library into research and teaching at the university. This position will seek out and build relationships with units and programs across campus, broadening the library's presence and influence throughout the campus and community. This is a full-time, tenure-track, 12-month faculty position reporting to the Dean of Libraries. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will:
* Take the lead in identifying and developing outreach and engagement activities.
* Communicate the library's services and resources to various constituents through accessibility compliant print and digital publications and social media.
* Cultivate partnerships across campus to promote the library and identify opportunities to enhance library services.
* Assist library colleagues with the creation, implementation, marketing, and assessment of programming, activities, and projects designed to facilitate research engagement.
* Work across campus on initiatives that contribute to student success, creating an inclusive community, and fostering co-curricular user engagement.
* Serve as Library Liaison to multiple programs and academic departments.
* Assist with fundraising activities by working in partnership with the Friends of the Library, the Office of University Development, and the Foundation.
* Support the library administration through project management and oversight of a variety of strategic activities.
* Contribute to librarianship, research, and service at a level appropriate for a tenure-track faculty member of the university.
Qualifications:
* ALA accredited Master's degree in Library Science or related field
* Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing with different library user groups.
* Experience engaging stakeholders with library programs and services.
* Knowledge and awareness of current academic issues as they affect library resources, operations, and services.
* Demonstrate a commitment to fostering and promoting the values of diversity and inclusion.
Compensation: $48,000/year coupled with the university's excellent benefits package.
