Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in art, graphic design, marketing, or related field;
- 2 years of professional experience or six years combined equivalent education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4 or more years of professional experience in marketing, graphic design, or communications;
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Adobe Indesign and Photoshop;
- A compelling portfolio with projects showcasing graphic design skills;
- Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines in order to meet deadlines;
- Excellent writing, grammar and punctuation, and interpersonal communication skills;
- Experience with basic photography/videography and editing;
- Background and understanding of issues related to access, diversity, and inclusion in higher education;
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team;
- Proficiency in computer applications including MS Suite and Google Docs.
Reporting to the director for Enrollment Management (EM) Marketing & Communications, this position develops and oversees recruitment and retention communications and marketing for the UMD campus as part of the EM communications team. The position is responsible for the implementation of marketing and communications campaigns and projects by providing strategic, technical, and creative input.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Graphic Design/Print Material Management/Marketing Communication Management and Implementation (65%)
- Assist with design and development of EM print materials, outdoor, digital, environmental, print advertisements, exhibition materials, promotional items, and all other collateral materials as needed;
- Assist with copywriting for EM collateral materials;
- Manage print art file preparation, vendor submission, final print approval, and coordination of mailing lists for finished material delivery;
- Prepare rough drafts and present ideas for feedback and approval;
- Help manage and coordinate the acquisition of EM photo and video assets; manage asset library; partner with UMPR where appropriate;
- Manage or assist with inventory of EM publications and promotional items;
- Ensure compliance with the University’s branding guidelines;
- Manage relationships with print representatives; help plan and execute print/digital advertising campaigns in partnership with vendors;
- Create and manage digital media advertising.
General Communications Planning and Project Management (30%)
- Assist with managing and implementing EM communication plans
- Help generate and manage a library of student profiles, quotes, and testimonials;
- Communicate, liaison, and collaborate with collegiate units and campus departments to generate student success stories, and profile UMD programs.
Work Team and Professional Development (5%)
- Participate as a positive member of the EM marketing and communications team;
- Participate in professional development activities;
- Actively support UMD Campus Goal #2, create a positive and inclusive campus climate for all by advancing equity, diversity, and social justice;
- Serve on campus or professional organization committees and workgroups as assigned/elected;
- Other duties as assigned.
