Position Description:
The Dental Sterlization Technician plays an important role in ensuring dental instruments are not only available to students as needed, but also are clean and sterile up to health industry standards.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Checking out instrument kits, individual instruments, sundries, etc. to students at the beginning of each clinic session, utilizing the School’s electronic records system (axiUm).
- Checking out items to students as requested during clinic sessions.
- Maintaining organization of the dispensary.
- Replenishing stock, rotating for expiration dates as necessary.
- Documenting items needed for restocking
- Checking returned items for completeness, cleanliness, and breakage.
- Processing items for sterilization processing, including the processing/oiling of hand pieces and replenishment of bur blocks/kits.
- Performing daily, weekly, and quarterly preventive maintenance on instruments and handpieces.
- Recommending replacement of unserviceable items to area leadership.
- Operating sterilizers and washers to ensure proper cycle progression; performing tests to assure proper operation.

Note: Work hours are Monday through Friday (with occasional weekends), between 9:45 a.m and 6:45 p.m. Hours may vary and change dependent on the needs of the department.
The hourly pay rate for this position ranges from $17.24 - $23.47/hour.
Qualifications
All required qualifications must be documented on application materials
Required Qualifications :
- Three (3) months experience working in a sterile processing/dispensing environment, OR successful completion of an accredited Central Sterile Processing training program.
- Ability to stand on feet for the entire work shift, lift 40 pounds, bend and stoop repeatedly in the handling of materials and use a ladder to reach supplies on upper shelves.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as a Dental Assistant
- Demonstrated familiarity with dental instruments, supplies, and sundries.
