Post-Doctoral Associate Job ID370835 Location Twin Cities Job FamilyAcademic Full/Part TimeFull-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code9546 Employee ClassAcad Prof and Admin About the Job The FamiLee and James Labs within the Department of Psychology at the University of Minnesota are seeking applications for a postdoctoral associate under the direction of Professors Richard Lee and Drexler James. The position is ideal for a diversity scientist interested in research on racially minoritized youth and families that utilizes a strength-based approach to development and well-being. The FamiLee lab has a focus on measurement, mixed-method, and longitudinal studies on racial discrimination, ethnic-racial socialization, identity development, acculturation processes, and intergenerational conflict and trauma. The James lab has a focus on internalized stigma, broadly, internalized racism specifically, as well as an interest in meta-analyses and research on health disparities. The successful applicant will join active research labs, work collaboratively with colleagues at other institutions, and have an opportunity to mentor and supervise undergraduate and graduate students. Salary range: $62-68k, depending on experience. Job duties/responsibilities: 50% - Preparing manuscripts to submit for publication based on data sets in the lab. The focus of these manuscripts will be on different research topics of interest related to health disparities/equity, internalized stigma, international adoption, and/or cultural/ethnic minority psychology. 20% - Develop new lines of research that build off past research conducted during graduate school or collaborate on new research projects with existing faculty, graduate students, and collaborators. 15% - Data management and analysis. Organizing, cleaning, and archiving, data; Conducting basic and advanced statistical analyses involving longitudinal data 15% - Supervise undergraduate and graduate students on work related to above responsibilities.. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in CLA Working in CLA Qualifications Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in a field related to diversity science (e.g., Psychology, Human Development and Family Science, Child Development, Public Health) Preferred Qualifications: Independent research on racially minoritized youth and families that utilizes a strength-based approach to development and well-being or examines socio-ecological determinants of health Excellent written and oral communication skills as demonstrated by publication record and conference presentations Advanced statistical computing skills: knowledge of R and/or mPlus, longitudinal data analysis, structural equation modeling Evidence of ability to work as an independent scientist while collaborating with teams of peer researchers About the Department About the Department of Psychology The Department of Psychology is one of the largest departments within the College of Liberal Arts, and is a highly ranked department nationally. Currently, the department has 46 core faculty, 70+ staff, 140 graduate students, and it supports the largest number of undergraduate majors of any academic program on the UMN Twin Cities campus. Additionally, the department has $40 million or more in active research funding at any given time (the majority from NIH), spread across 70 or more projects.
